Welcome Back!

It was an absolute joy to welcome returning and new students to Stonehedge Elementary School for the 2015-2016 school year.

Mr. Suddaby and Mrs. Keevil greet students at their buses.

Students receive a warm welcome from Dr. Brown.

Students reconnect with old friends.
Children are welcomed back as they enter school.
Eager students entering through our upgraded front door.

Third grade students settling in to their new air-conditioned classroom.
Fourth grade class meeting.

Fifth grade students in their first Library class of the year.

Happy students exiting the newly designed entrance to our Gymnasium.

We will continue to focus on our students’ academic success, parent communication and providing a safe, fun and positive learning environment for all students.

On behalf of the Stonehedge Community, I want to thank our district administration, our Board of Education and the West Genesee Community for all of the improvements to our building.  I don’t think that I can overstate the difference the capital improvements, especially the air conditioning, are making for our students.

I encourage all of you to join, volunteer and attend the meetings and activities sponsored by our PTA.

Stonehedge Elementary PTA is simply an outstanding group of parents doing great things for our school.  You will be glad that you joined.

We are turning the corner on construction at Stonehedge Elementary School!

The hallways are full of construction materials

The demolition of anything that was worn-out, out-dated or dysfunctional is quickly nearing completion.

The last of the demolition phase

The reconstruction of our beautiful building is well underway.

The air conditioning duct work for the second floor is installed and  the first floor ceilings are going back up.

Reconstruction of the locker rooms...

...and student bathrooms.

We are all very excited to welcome our students back to their "BETTER THAN EVER" school building on September 8th.

New sidewalks are installed.

The main office is now open from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

A very busy last few weeks of school!

Third Grade Field Trip to the Zoo

A great time was had by all the 3rd graders at the zoo. It was great to see all the animals and enjoy the day with classmates.

Third Grade Picnic

Fourth Grades visited the Erie Canal

Our fourth graders made a trip to the Camillus Erie Canal this year. This event has replaced our Colonial Days Event. The students heard about the history of the canal and even got a boat ride!

Water Carnival Fun

Wet and wild fun was the goal of the water carnival! This is always a favorite activity here at Stonehedge.

Technology and Coding Day

On Monday, June 8th 5th grade students in Mr. Perkins class had Katie Regan as a special guest for the afternoon. Mrs. Regan taught the students about computer coding through the use of Lego We Do kits, Makey Makey kits, and MIT's scratch coding program. Students also spent time testing their coding skills with a game called Code Combat. The students learned a great deal about computer coding and how it works with electronic devices. Several students made their own game controllers/keyboards using the Makey Makey kits.

Stonehedge Stands Up

Congratulations to our students who were recognized in our Stonehedge Stands Up program throughout the year. We are proud of the good deeds all of our students do each and every day!

Our Upstanders for 2014 - 2015

And finally... Fifth Grade Graduation!

Congratulations to all our Fifth Graders!
This is a special group of students. We have no doubt that they will have many successes at West Genesee Middle School and throughout their lives. We wish them all the best and we will miss each and every one!

There are only seventy-six days until school re-opens and I can hardly wait!

We have had a wonderful year and I want to thank all of our Stonehedge children for being great students and wonderful citizens of our school.  A very special thanks goes to our PTA and the amazing faculty and staff at Stonehedge.  I also want to thank all of our parents for the support that you give our school.  You have made the Stonehedge community a wonderful place to raise children.

Thank you again and enjoy the summer.
