Happening This Spring at Stonehedge

Following are highlights of some Spring events Stonehedge students were involved in.

Student Council Organizes Clubs

This spring, with the help of parent volunteers, Stonehedge Elementary Student Council was able to offer three extracurricular clubs for our students to participate in.

The Newspaper Club meets before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays and provides an opportunity for students to have fun and learn about journalism and the process of news articles going to print .This club has 28 members and is led by Henry Domin, an editor at the Post-Standard
.
The Science Club meets every Thursday after school and provides the opportunity for children to have fun and learn about science. Twenty-six students participate in Science Club and the coordinator is Christopher Paoli, a science teacher at West Genesee High School.

The Running Club has 21 members and meets Mondays and Wednesdays after school. This group provides a positive and healthy opportunity for our students to develop a routine of physical exercise while gaining confidence through accomplishing goals. Susie Mazzoni leads the group in running games and interactive lessons.

I would like to thank all our parents and students who have helped make these clubs a success.

Stonehedge Stands up

The West Genesee Middle School “Around the Edges” group presented anti – bullying skits to all the Fifth grade classes. The group then led a discussion about bullying and “Standing Up”. The middle schoolers also helped ease anxieties by answering the younger students questions about middle school and what to expect next year.

Special Olympics

Twenty students from Stonehedge participated in the Special Olympics at Cicero North Syracuse High School on Thursday.

The students and staff departed from Stonehedge in the morning...
