Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays from Stonehedge Gold!

We all enjoyed the sounds of the season at our 4th and 5th Grade Winter Concert.
Below are some pictures of Orchestra and Chorus.
Thank you to Mr. Reney, Amanda's dad, for taking these pictures.

Stonehedge Student Council

Stonehedge Student Council had their first meeting yesterday.

The Student Council is made up of  two representatives from each 5th grade class.
These students will  be representing the entire Stonehedge student body, from grades K through 5. The Stonehedge Student Council will meet at least twice a month and is ready to consider all students' ideas for making Stonehedge an even better place to be.

The Stonehedge School Times

With the weather being too harsh for outdoor recess, some very enterprising 4th grade students took it upon themselves to write, edit and publish their very own newspaper. Two copies were distributed to each classroom.
Below is an image of the first page of The Stonehedge School Times. (To read the entire edition, click here.)

Wishing you a happy holiday season and a new year filled with peace and joy.

Spelling Bee and Veterans Day Tribute

Congratulations go out to the ten students who represented Stonehedge in the District Spelling Bee at Camillus Middle School on Thursday, November 7th:
Ava Propper, Ben Paoli, Connor Dunham, Clara Pinker, Kaylee Franks, Madison Mitchell, Ryan McLane, Isabella Commesso, Zofia Sims and Maeve Normoyle.

Mrs. Conboy helps with some last minute practice.

And we are off to Camillus Middle School!

Great job students!  We are very proud of the skill and composure that all of you demonstrated during the competition.

Thank you, Veterans!

On behalf of our entire school, I want to thank all the Veterans and Active Duty Personnel who joined us for our Veterans Day Tribute.  Our students took great pride in singing patriotic songs and in having our guests join them in saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

After the ceremonies, Lieutenant Jason Taylor spoke to the fifth grade students about what military service is like for those who serve and what it is like for their families.  Master Sergeant Carl Derby and retired TSGT Sandy Sanderson joined Lieutenant Taylor in answering questions from the students.

Mr. Sanderson presented a United States flag that flew with our troops in Afghanistan to Stonehedge Elementary School.  The flag will be framed and displayed in the School Library.

Back to School!

Welcome Back!
Stonehedge Elementary School has had a wonderful opening week. We want to send out a GIANT THANK YOU to our parents and families for helping to get our year started on such a positive note.

Our students arrived with bright smiles and positive attitudes.  We enjoyed seeing familiar faces and also welcoming our many new students to Stonehedge.   I’m sure that you will enjoy these photographs of our opening day.

We are looking forward to seeing parents and guardians at our Open House on Thursday, September 12.  To help with parking and to accommodate families who want to visit more than one grade level, we’ve staggered our classroom visit schedule:

6:00 - 6:20 Olweus No Bullying Parent Video in the Library
6:30 - 6:55 Grade 5 Team presentation in Gold cafeteria
     6:30 - 6:55 Kindergarten and First Grades
     7:00 - 7:25 Second, Third and BOCES
     7:30 - 7:55 Fourth and Fifth Grades

Very Truly Yours,
Brent
